About

Why "Sobremesas"?

In a world that often moves too quickly, we rarely have the time to truly absorb and reflect on the things that move us. Much like how we rush through meals, we sometimes rush through art. We glance at a painting, scroll past an image, or visit a gallery only to check it off a list. Sobremesas is about creating a space where we can pause, take a breath, and really sit with art.

It’s a space where we:

  • Linger over details: Instead of quickly scrolling past an artwork or speeding through a gallery, we’ll take our time to break down what we see, feel, and interpret.

  • Reflect deeply: Like the best sobremesas, art invites reflection. Here, we’ll delve into the emotions, ideas, and stories that art evokes—both personally and universally.

  • Engage in conversation: Just as sobremesa is a moment of shared dialogue, this blog will be a space for open discussion. I encourage you to share your own thoughts if you feel strongly about something, so we can build a community that learns and grows together through art.
